commentary

Little is known about Mme S. Mayer. In 1923, when Mother Adjusting Her Child's Bonnet was sold to M. Knoedler & Co., Paris, the seller was listed in the Knoedler archives as both "S. Mayer" and "Mme Lippmann Mayer" of Paris.
