commentary

Counterproofs after this work exist.

André Weil had a gallery in Paris from the 1930s through the 1960s.

George N. Richard (1892–1972) was a limited partner in the brokerage firm C. B. Richard, Ellis & Co., which was founded by his grandfather. Richard provided financial backing for Manhattan's Le Pavillon, the first restaurant to offer French haute cuisine in the United States, and he was a founder of the American Shakespeare Festival Theater in Stratford, Connecticut. His first wife, the actress Helen Menken, had been married to Humphrey Bogart; his second wife, Bernice Parks, was an actress and singer.
