commentary

Ellen Mary and Eugenia Playing Cards depicts two of Cassatt's nieces, the daughters of her brother Joseph Gardner: Ellen Mary Cassatt (1894–1966) and Eugenia Cassatt (1897–1979). Ellen Mary became Mrs. Horace Binney Hare; Eugenia first married Charles P. Davis, then Percy C. Madeira.
